Pakems are lightweight, water-resistant, packable shoes engineered to take anywhere. They feature lightweight rip stop fabric, rubber soles for traction, and a strapped bag for packability.
If your dogs have ever barked after taking off your ski or snowboard boots after a long day on the hill, then you need some Pakems.
All Pakems come with a carrying case.
Pakems started as a statement that Julie Adams made while on top of a mountain on a ski vacation that she took after quitting her 18 year corporate career as an in-house attorney. Julie left the corporate world in an effort to find a new career path whereby she could have the flexibility to be able to spend more time with her six year old son. While on top of a mountain sitting in a chair in the snow and having a few cocktails, Julie had her ski boots off because they were so uncomfortable.
At that moment she said out loud that she wished she had a pair of comfortable boots with her to put on until she had to get back into her ski boots. She then thought about all of the times when she and her son would get to the bottom of the mountain and he would sit down and start crying that his ski boots hurt so “baaaaaaad” that he couldn’t walk. Being a single mom, she was always carrying her skis, her poles, her son’s skis and she was in ski boots herself, so there was nothing she could do but to carry him by the handle on his ski harness like a lunch box through the village with him flailing and crying. Those imaginary boots would have made that walk very different.
So over the course of the next several months, Julie worked on Pakems becoming a reality. The boot was designed to be lightweight to be easily carried. Also, they were designed to be compressible so that they were not much thicker than the soles of the boots. Julie has also designed a waist belt with a removable pack with straps so that the boots can be carried without a backpack. She is continuing to make available other products that can be used to carry Pakems.
