We are a small and fun startup based in Palermo, Buenos Aires and San Francisco, California. We are funded by top tier investors from both Argentina and the Silicon Valley, including 500 Startups and NXTP. We were selected as an Endeavor Company in 2012 and currently work with major international partners like ESPN and the X Games.
GoodPeople is a social marketplace focusing on the action sports and eventually outdoor retail industry. Our motto is "Go Big. Do Good." We empower both people and brands to be more socially and environmentally responsible. We do this by connecting them both with organizations aligned with their business/sports and values while creating fun opportunities both online and offline to have fun and make positive change in their community and planet. Our vision is simple: GoodPeople is the future social commerce.
We are looking for a strong candidate who can hit the ground running, and potentially mentor/lead other junior engineers (already have a very strong talented team in place).
We work in small, coordinated teams. We brainstorm and make prototypes. We test. We believe in end-to-end ownership. This is our product, so we care a lot about the processes involved in shipping great, valuable code.
GoodPeople is about giving back, so we enjoy contributing to open source, mostly to the Ruby community, whenever we can. From issues or pull requests to attending conferences, we like to be connected to the rest of the technology ecosystem, its people, and their ideas.
We value great interpersonal relations because we understand that a fun, healthy work environment is of paramount importance for happiness and productivity to blossom.
We over-communicate so everybody can be aware of what is happening company-wide. We care about transparency. We are a low-bureaucracy and highly democratic organization.
We are looking for someone:
- Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, or other MVC web application frameworks like Sinatra or Cuba.
- Knowledge of testing techniques and tools. We test, especially the critical parts, via unit, functional and feature specs with RSpec and Capybara.
We use MySQL for general persistence, Redis for caching and queues for asynchronous tasks, Solr as our search platform, AWS for infrastructure and Engine Yard as a provider of that infrastructure.
We use GitHub to host our codebase and perform code reviews through pull requests. We communicate via HipChat. We use Pivotal Tracker to organize our weekly sprints and Trello to discuss product ideas.
What matters to us is not what libraries you know or you've worked with, but how fast can you master new ones.
What we want is really nice, curious folks that enjoy working in a great product along with a great team eager to make things happen.
